Good morning, welcome to the National Air and Space Museum. My name is Kent Wang. I am a weekend volunteer docent and I will provide a highlight tour this morning.
The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world. The Museum has two display facilities: the flagship building in Washington, D.C. and the new Udvar-Hazy Center near the Dulles Airport. This museum features 22 exhibition galleries and is a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight. This highlight tour will be last approximately 90 minutes.
This morning we'll be starting our tour with the remarkable Viking 1 spacecraft in the Milestone Gallery.
